The meeting was attended by about 30 parishioners. Val Granger from the Community Council For Somerset and Gerard Tucker from South Somerset D.C. explained about the Parish Plan initative and how it applied to Ilton.

It was explained that a grant would be available to complete the Plan, but the application had to completed soon.

A show of hands was made that indicated support from the meeting to proceed with the parish plan.

A number of people indicated they would stand on a steering group to help start the plan process.

The first meeting of the steering group will be held on Sunday 25th April.

Ilton Parish Plan

Steering Group Meeting

Sunday 25th April 7:30 at Ilton Memorial Hall.

Present.Dave Amor, Mandy Bulgin, Primrose Carter, Steve Munday, Kim Board, Anne Crow, Mike Chew, Gordon Hickton.

Val Grainger-Community Council.

The main topic was the application for the grant from the Countryside Agency.

Val guided us through the questions and it was agreed that a copy of the form and the guidance notes should be given to each member to go through and that we should meet again and fill in the application with guidance from Val. The deadlines are quite tight.

A draft copy of the suggested constitution has been produced from the guidance given by the Countryside Agency, with the name Ilton substituted for the "anyvillage" name. This to be given to everyone to look over and to suggest any changes needed for our situation.

Various bodies need to be informed to complete the application and these are to be undertaken by various people.

The budget was discussed and the various sources of income available were talked about.

Contact details sheet was passed around for any amendments/additions, this to be given to each member.

Consultation is now to begin to find out the opinions of the community. The first event will be an indoor car boot sale in the Memorial Hall on Sunday 31st October from 10:30 to 1:30pm.

Further details will be in the October issue of Ilton Talking which is being sent to every home in Ilton.

Indoor Car boot Sale

This was held on Sunday 31st October and a large number of people were selling. Unfortunatly there were not as many people buying as hoped for, but a large number of forms were returned which will help to give us an idea of some of the issues that are of concern to some people.

Once they all been collected, the hard task of collating the responses and completing an initial report will begin.

Thankyou to everyone who took part in the Parish survey. We had a 70% response which was excellent. The results have been collated and a report has been produced. The steering group now have to interpret these results and produce action plans on how we as a community can address some of the issues that have been raised. A summary booklet has been produced which will be distributed to every home in Ilton during May.

Whats happening now?
