Parish Plan
Parish Plan
Village Plan Draw
A big thank you to all the households who took the trouble to complete and return their Parish Plan Questionnaire. We had a 70% response. We are in the process of collating all the information and putting together an action plan which will hopefully resolve most if not all of the issues which you felt were important.
As a small token of our appreciation of your efforts, a draw of the returned tickets (from the back of the questionnaire) took place during the May Car Boot Sale in the village hall and the winning numbers are:-213, 86, 82, 116, 269, 2, 345, 297,54 and 137.
To claim your prize, please contact Anita Chew on 54471, your copy of the ticket will be needed to collect the prize.
All prizes must be claimed by the 10th June 2005.
What is a Parish plan?
It is a scheme to help rural communities have a greater say in their own affairs. We want people to set down their vision for the future of their own village.
A Parish Plan can cover everything that is relevant to the people who live and work in the parish, from social housing to places for children to play. It should address the needs of the entire community, including local businesses. Everyone should have an opportunity to contribute to its preparation.
The Parish Plan should reflect the policies of your local authority's local development plan
and identify how they can be put into practice in your community.
The plan will contain actions to address the needs your community has identified. This action plan can
be used to demonstrate need and local support when applying for grants eg. the Countryside Agency's
Community Services Grant, and will contribute to the development of local plans, community strategies or Market Town Healthchecks.
What's involved in the development of a Parish Plan?
The plan might address the following local issues and identify actions to take them forward:
- Housing.
- Services.
- Village hall/community building.
- Land use issues and design.
- Transport.
- Business.
- Local green space and countryside access.
These are just some ideas to guide you. Every community has its own particular concerns and issues to
tackle. It will be for the community to decide on the final contents of the plan.
The whole community should be involved in identifying needs and issues and proposing solutions.
It is vital to reach out beyond the parish or town council and traditional local groups usually involved in local campaigning. For example, toddler/play groups, youth clubs and other young people's associations, Schools, Women's Institutes, retired people and the elderly could be involved in shaping and distributing surveys and questionnaires.
What do we do now?
We now need to set up a steering committee to take the plan forward and co-ordinate it. We are holding a public meeting in the Memorial Hall on Thursday 22nd April at 7:30pm to explain more details about the Parish Plan idea and to answer any questions you may have. Please come along, we are sure you will find it interesting and hopefully you will be able to help shape the future of Ilton.
